Paul Tyler, ArtsKC Fund Grants DirectorPaul Tyler

My best arts memory…  five summers of performances at The Lost Colony on the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

A quote I love… Life is short, art is long. Hippocrates

If I were an instrument, I would be… a saxophone.

My favorite artist is… Anna Deavere Smith.

I am inspired by… the passion, creativity and imagination of talented and dedicated people.

Paul Tyler has been working with the Arts Council of Metropolitan Kansas City since moving to Kansas City from Virginia in late 2001. He worked on research and planning for the ArtsKC Fund for over a year before its launch in the spring of 2007, and now serves as Grants Director for the fund. His previous work at the Arts Council included research, advocacy, economic development and the arts, and arts marketing. He has been Project Director for several NEA grants to the Arts CouncilOther responsibilities include his work with Artist INC, which is implemented by a partnership of organizations that includes the Arts Council, Charlotte Street Foundation and the UMKC Innovation Center.  Paul was closely involved with the planning work for Artist INC since the beginning and has helped to direct its activities as it continues to grow.
