Our Mission

The Arts Council of Metropolitan Kansas City strengthens and enriches
the community by growing appreciation, participation, and support of the arts.

How do we do that? There has been considerable research done about the
value of the arts to a community. This value can be measured economically and
instrinsically through the arts impact on the quality of life in the community.

The Kansas City metropolitan region is rich with a diversity of artists and arts
organizations - a fact that many of our own residents don't even realize. So we
have designed many of our programs and activities around efforts to increase
the public's awareness of the arts that are available in our area and encourage them to participate in arts events and support local arts
and cultural organizations.

We also serve as a common voice for the artists and arts organizations that call our region home through our advocacy work. We work
to keep civic and elected leaders throughout the region informed of developments in the arts community and issues that affect the arts.
