Liz O’Leary Albers, ArtsKC Fund Director of Workplace Giving

Liz Albers

My best arts memory…. Little Orphan Annie! (the professional musical, when I was in grade school). I desperately wanted to be Annie. My little sister and I would have “who sounds the most like Annie” singing contests…hours were spent making cassette tape recordings, playing them back and judging who sounded most like Andrea McCardle. Beyond the show itself, I remember how grand the Music Hall seemed to me, I loved the anticipation of waiting for it to begin, how the hair on my arms raised when the orchestra began the overture, the costumes, the scene changes…the whole experience was simply magical and I wanted to be a part of it! Thus a long career of dancing classes, High School Theater performances and part-time work in my college’s Theatre box office followed.

A quote I love… When you get, give; when you learn, teach.  Maya Angelou

If I were an instrument, I would be… a xylophone.

My favorite artists are…  Emily & Claire Albers (my daughters).

I am inspired by… People who face unimaginable challenges with passion, commitment and grace.
