Arts Directory - Frequently Asked Questions

Can I join the directory and add events to the calendar?
Our general directory includes artists, arts and cultural organizations, and arts-related businesses in the five-county core metro area (Johnson and Wyandotte County in Kansas and Platte, Clay and Jackson County in Missouri).

You can appear in our general directory if you are located within the five-county core metro area and one of the following applies:

• Your organization’s mission is to promote and enhance the arts and humanities;

• You are an organizer or sponsor of arts and cultural events, such as festivals, folk art celebrations, dances, exhibitions, musical performances and so on;

• You are a business that provides a specific arts or humanities service – such as an art gallery, art supply store, or provider of music lessons, or art or dance classes.

• You are an artist who provides a specific service – such as the exhibition and/or sale of artwork, class instruction in dance, creative writing or music composition, participant as a musician in a band, or participation in school residency programs.

• All artists and arts and cultural organizations listed in our general directory are free to post items in our events calendar (subject to Arts Council approval).

Can I post events and activities if I am outside the five-county metro area?
Yes! While organizations and individuals outside the five-county core metro area are not listed in our general directory, you are welcome to post your events and appear on our web site as venues for events and activities if you meet at least one of the above four criteria and you are located and present events in Atchison, Leavenworth, Douglas, Franklin, or Miami County in Kansas or Buchanan, Clinton, Ray, Lafayette, Johnson, or Cass County in Missouri.
