Diversity Initiative
The Strengthening Leadership through Diversity initiative will provide cultural diversity workshops and diversity roundtables for local artists, arts leaders and arts organizations staff, board, interns & volunteers with three outcomes:
- educating about multicultural competency and developing strategies to diversify their boards, staff, and reach broader audiences,
- creating an action plan (including the Arts Council) for how they will increase diversity.
- assisting them in identifying other areas where diversity issues present barriers for their organizations and develop a plan for how to address these issues.
A survey of artists and arts organizations revealed a need for more education and resources on this topic. In conjunction with Charlotte Street Foundation, the American Jazz Museum, and Mattie Rhodes Center, we invite leaders from arts organizations to join us for a series of workshops and roundtables where they will gain the knowledge and resources to create an action plan to increase diversity within their organizations.
